NPort IA5000A series device servers are designed for connecting serial devices such as PLC, sensors, meters, motors, drivers, barcode readers and operator displays used in industrial automation. The devices have a sturdy metal case, screw-type connectors and full surge protection. NPort IA5000A series device servers are extremely user-friendly, enabling simple and reliable serial-to-Ethernet solutions.

Each NPort IA5000A series device server has two Ethernet ports that can be used as Ethernet switch ports. One port connects directly to the network or server, while the other port can connect to another NPort IA device server or other Ethernet device. Dual Ethernet ports thus help reduce cabling costs by eliminating the need to connect each device to a separate Ethernet switch. The devices also have two power inputs that can be connected to active DC power sources simultaneously. If one of the power sources fails, the other source automatically comes into play. Redundant power inputs thus help ensure the uninterrupted operation of your device server.

The built-in relay output can be used to alert administrators of a network outage caused by a power outage or a change in DVD or DSR serial signals. It is also possible to alert via Email when abnormal activity is detected. All these features are valuable tools for maintenance personnel to take quick action in emergency situations.

Moxa's pioneering voltage-immune solution, which can be applied to NPort IA5000A's serial, power and Ethernet lines, has been tested and proven to comply with IEC 61000-4-5. This advanced surge protection provides a robust serial-to-Ethernet solution that protects electrical devices from voltage spikes and is resistant to electrical interference in areas such as oil and gas and electrical distribution automation applications.

To guarantee safe and reliable operation in industrial conditions, NPort IA5000A device servers have received a wide range of industrial certifications, including IP 30 protection and UL508 safety certification for industrial control equipment. In addition, these devices are UL/cUL (Class1, Division 2, Groups A,B,C,D), ATEX Class1 Zone 2, and IECEx compliant for use in hazardous areas.
