MGate MB3660I-8-2AC

Modbus gateway, dual LAN, dual AC power input, 8 RS-232/422/485 ports, 0 to 60°C operating temperature, 2 kV isolation

  • "Innovative Command Learning" innovative command learning feature that eliminates the need to enter SCADA Modbus commands by acting as an agent gateway
  • High performance through active and parallel interrogation of serial devices
  • Serial (Master) - Serial (Slave) communication support
  • 2 Ethernet ports with the same IP or dual IP addresses
  • SD card for configuration backup
  • Access to up to 256 TCP master/client devices, or connection to up to 128 TCP slave/server devices
  • Dual VAC power input, wide power input range
  • 3-pin fault relay circuit for event alerts

MGate MB3660I-8 gateways are redundant Modbus gateways that convert between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII protocols. They can be accessed by up to 256 TCP master/client devices, or connected to up to 128 TCP slave/server devices. The isolated MGate MB3660I-8-2AC model has 2 kV isolation protection, suitable for power distribution applications. The devices are designed for easy integration into Modbus TCP and RTU/ASCII networks. MGate MB3660 series industrial gateways have features to make network integration easy, customizable, and compatible with nearly all Modbus networks. For large-scale Modbus deployments, MGate MB3660 gateways can effectively connect large numbers of Modbus nodes to the same network. 8-port MB3660 models can physically manage up to 248 serial slave nodes (the Modbus standard only defines Modbus IDs 1 through 247). Each RS-232/422/485 serial port can be independently configured for Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII and for different baudrates. Thus, both types of networks are integrated into Modbus TCP with a single Modbus gateway.

MGate MB3660 series gateways support two communication modes: transparent mode and agent mode. For transparent mode, gateways convert Modbus commands from Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU/ASCII, or vice versa, or from serial Master to serial Slave. On the other hand, since only a single Modbus protocol request-response action can be performed at a time, each Modbus device must wait for its turn, resulting in poor performance. Agent mode is designed to overcome this performance weakness. By allowing users to manually enter Modbus commands, the gateway can send Modbus commands to multiple Modbus devices simultaneously. Since the gateway will actively and continuously pull data from Modbus devices simultaneously, through different serial ports, the expected time to access a Modbus device will be significantly reduced.
